Job description

We are very pleased to be asked to search for a new VAT person for our blue chip client based in the Midlands.

They are looking to bolster their current team of 3 with a brand new addition. The role will start out as below but will develop into a  more advisory and project orientated.

Key accountabilities

• Completion and timely submission of UK, EU and Rest of World VAT (and similar) and statistical returns
• Advice to in house personnel on day-to-day VAT issues
• Provide VAT advice in relation to larger projects and strategic initiatives
• Assist UK Indirect Manager to

      -Continually improve the VAT control environment to further underpin Senior Accounting Officer

       sign-off

      -Develop of a VAT Governance Framework

      -Transition VAT compliance from Tax Centre of Expertise into Finance Service centre

      -Develop and deliver ongoing training and awareness programmes

      -Develop an independent audit, quality assurance and analytical capability.

• Reviewing activities and seek opportunities to maximise VAT efficiencies;
• Keeping  updated on developments within the external VAT environment, responding to regulatory change and maintaining close and positive links with external bodies;
• Developing and maintaining regular communication and interfaces with key internal stakeholders;
• Contributing to the development of the global VAT strategy including policy, governance and systems development.
